Hehe.. it's a challenge, 'ain't it Mike? You're right - to get better detail with a DSLR (as opposed to your planetary CCD) I've gone with a high-quality 2" 2x barlow to give full-frame apects. On an 80mm f/6 (or thereabouts) the Moon will take up around 85% of the vertical frame height with this arrangement. Single-shot images are a bugger when it comes to the Moon I've always found. Seeing is the biggest problem, and you just have to wait, patiently, for the best conditions you can. When you're not stacking it's a lot more, uhmm... difficult....
