ok, so iv been reading some interesting theories about dooms day! yep, yet another theory that the world is going to end. this time in 2012.

As always, i am highly skeptical.

From my reading, alot of the dooms day stuff comes from predictions based on mayan mysticism. To cut a very long story short, the mayans used to make predictions based on astronomical events (the mayans were big on studying astronomical pattens). They used very precise and intricate calenders to determine that there will be a significant astro event on dec 21st 2012, and they think that it will lead to the end of the world.

I dont believe that the world will end in 2012.

But i am very intrigued by the astro event. Apparently, the sun will line up with the center of the milky way for the first time in 25 thousand years, the earth may 'wobble' on its axis, and the earth will enter some type of photon belt for a year. It makes me wonder if this will lead to repercussion here at ground zero.

Seeing as you guys have a rather objective and scientific point of view on astronomical events, what do u guys think?
