Bird started it with actively cooling a Newtonian, which I have subsequently done to my scope.

For those not up to date on High res imaging, the mirror must be within a +/- .5 degree difference to the ambient air temp if you want the results that Paul, Mike, Damian Peach and Bird regulary get.
