DJDD, MPAS site is quite good, or you can travel another 15 minutes and be in Sommers/Ballnaring area, lots of farmland, dark sky's, and the other side of Authers Seat away from a good deal of Melbourne's glow, I had a good look around this area on Friday night as I come from McCrae and was supprised how good the sky looked, lots of quiet roads to find a spot to set up in peace.
