Hi Carl,
I have the baader filter in my 300d and it does a good job and I have no other filters. One thing about having the baader filter put in is that with a little tweaking your autofocus will still work which is handy for using your canon lenses, and using CWB in manual mode you can still get nice daytime shots.
Only drwaback is if you want to use the camera for IR work.
