Yep, wack'n your noggin on the scope will not help tracking.
Look on the bright side - at least you know what caused it. Seriously, troubleshooting tracking issues and the like can take a lot of time and effort. Something you don't need to worry about yet, so you can concentrate on the feedback the others have provided.
