Virga Cloud formations

My partner (Christine) was lucky enough to see some relatively rare and unusual clouds while out on a field trip just the other day.

These are Virga clouds, "Moisture that evaporates as it falls from a cloud into a layer of dry air."

I'm fascinated by clouds and have never noticed these before.

I find it intersting that the moisture falling from the clouds is falling from such small clouds! And the example in my book of clouds shows moisture falling from even smaller clouds! Very interesting.

Shame she didn't have a better camera on hand, the photo quality would have been much nicer with a better camera..
