Singo is a good place to view the night sky from, I used to live there about 15years ago. That is where I met and married my wonderful wife. I also pointed to a star to my kids and when they looked through my telescope for the first time (also an 8" Dob) they saw saturn. Like you it blew them away. There are countless thing to see through the telescope and I'm sure the pleasant surprises will keep on coming.
