I have the C8 NGT which I think is the same mount as yours just a smaller optical tube.
To get the GoTo working , you dont even need to be properly polar aligned, and dont dont need polar alignment scope accuracy
It sounds to me that it could be worth checking a few things -sorry if you have already done these things:
1 Have you set tracking to EQ South
2 have you set the Latitude and Longitude correctly.and also date and time -as accurately as possible
3 what power supply are you using-the Celestron AS forum reports that a huge percentage of problems are caused by power supplies
4 Try reversing your DEC cable-for some strange reason this sometimes helps
5 Most importantly register at the Celestron yahoo group
