Dave,
Is there a ready source for that mylar material with which you wrapped your alt bearings? How does it adhere?
Any other alt bearing "wraps" folks found work? My GSO alt motion is better after changing to bigger teflon, and moving the pads "down" just a hair. still, the staple worked up a bit recently and gouged the bearing on one side. I think there is a slight rough spot in the alt motion as a consequence, and I'd like to upgrade the surface without trying to grind down some ebony star strips...which sounds like way too much effort..since I can't find any thinned strips soon.

This ring rides on the teflon. I also still use the centre washers but as i said are much smaller. Weight of the whole scope and mount is much more evenly distributed now.
I also put .25mm chrome mylar on the altitude bearings which has made these very smooth also. They where pretty good anyway.
