Question For those knowledgable about multi-meters and testing electronics...

I have a fault in my setup somewhere in the chain of:

ST7 -> Guider cable and adaptors -> LX200 CCD Port

The actual symptom is that east movement via the CCD port of the LX200/ST7 produces no response/change in behaviour at all. As if the cable were cut for just that one direction.

I would like to rule out the ST7 by testing that a signal is being transmitted from the ST7 guider port. How can I do this?

I'm familiar enough with my multi-meter to be able to test resistance and power levels coming from batteries and transformers, but I'm not sure how to test if an individual pin in a RJ socket is transmitting an electrical signal.

Anyone know how I do that without blowing the thing up?

Thanks.
