I've got the same one Phil, and yep it runs for ages. In fact it works best with flattened batteries I found. When new you run the risk of blinding any kangaroos within 2 kms if you accidently turn to white or over slide the mark when turning the red off (which is why I'm getting one of the other type. plus they look good at night ). When flat the white hardly glows but the red is still way bright enough.
