I have the Andrew's 30mm 80 degree and I love it! I got mine the last time they had them on special at $99 and I use it exactly as you plan to DJ - to help me find things and just look around.
In my f5 dob or any other fast f ratio scope yes it does give stars in the outer field of view plenty of seagulling, but that doesn't take away from it's performanc eto me as a "finder".
By the way Andrews have advertised recently that if you buy any new scope that comes equipped with a 2" focusor as standard they will throw one of these ep's in for free!
