We saw a lot of wonderful things at SPSP, but the celestial highlight for
Mai and I turned out to be on the drive home.
At 16:09 in broad daylight, while driving along Wylds Rd in Arcadia,
we witnessed a spectacular meteor. It shone with a brllliant blue and
white 'arc light' and I could make out the black meteorite itself before it
appeared to vapourize. It is always difficult to estimate the distance and height
of these things, as there is no sense of scale. However, this one appeared
to be *very low* and coming in steep. It lasted about a second and a bit.
