You should submit your story to Astronomy, I am sure Phil Harrington would be thrilled to hear from you with a story like that. As he always says, "Two eyes are better than one", and it sounds as though, with those binos, you had as a good a night as ever before.
I would love to go to the northern hemisphere to observe. I am very envious of John Bambury, who is off the the Texas Star Party in May.
