The next night I am out I will chart the temp.
There is no doubt in my mind my mirror and air temp inside the closed SCT tube are not as close as the half-degree difference Bird often refers to for optimum performance.
It's something I'm keen to work on and I'm lucky to have Bird so near by. He'll be a great help when we finally get round to drilling holes in my OTA
