Thanks for that Paul. I would love a polar aligned scope or a field derotator but for the time being I'm really interested in exploring all the possibilities and stretching out all the limitations of an alt-az arrangement. Down the track could be another matter.
By the way, you have the remote for the D70, don't you? I was using it for the first time last night and had trouble getting it to operate. It's very sensitive about where you point it. Where's the sensor on the camera?
