Very interesting replay from Don Pensak. I do most of observing using very sensitive CCD camera and computer. That gives me limiting magnitude about three orders higher then if I used eyepieces. I would like to calculate actual magnification of image using CCD at prime focus. I think it must involve focal length of telescope and size of CCD chip, but I cannot find the formula how to do it. Anyone knows?
