Attempted Astrophotography

After seeing what is possible with some of the amazing images kicking around Ice In Space I've decided to have a bit of a go. These aren't very good, in fact crappy is a better description but, there is enough there to have me thinking about things for the next attempt.

-Milky Way- By now I had realised the shutter was causing the el-cheapo tripod to vibrate and had retracted the legs to reduce the flex and was now lying on the ground. Nikon D200 with 17mm lens. ISO 2600. Three 30sec multi-exposures at F3.5 with the High ISO NR turned on.

-Eta carinae- Much the same as above except with the 200mm lens at F2.8. I think with the extra weight of the lens, the whole thing would rock for a few seconds after the shutter was released as the dodgy tripod legs flexed.

-M2- First attempt. Can only get better from here.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my feeble efforts and would really appreciate any advise offered.
