It took me years to see the GRS - it's rather easy to miss unless you pay attention! I've had people tell me they used to see it in little 60mm refractors in the late 1960's but now I usually refer to it as the Great Biege Spot.

Satellite events are neat. Dont just go for the transits, watch out for a few eclipses too. Some of my friends like to watch for the change in colour as the moon enter and exit Jupiter's penumbra.
