Simple Net,
for the wider of the two shots, I used a stock 20D Canon, and off the shelf 70-200L zoom, at F4. 30 seconds exposure at ISO100.
Camera was mounted on top of the Takahashi refractor (piggyback if you like), as I had taken a few through the refractor first, then switched to "wide-mode". The scope and camera were riding on the Takahashi EM200 Temma mount, so the longer exposures didn't trail.
In Photoshop I used the Levels, and Curves to bring out a little extra detail.
Anyone can do this, it is just a matter of getting out there.
