You'll probably find that while the moon and planets are fine with it because they are bright, once you move onto the fainter deep sky objects they are going to look rather dim because of the extra glass prisms in the spotting scope (to give you an erect image for day use) compared to an astronomical telescope which hopefully minimises the amount of light lost. Also 50mm is a pretty small aperture - I guess it depends how serious you want to get!
