It just dawned on me I've only got one more week of leave to go before I start a new chapter in my working career.
A couple of months ago I decided I'd had enough of getting up at 3am, Monday to Friday.
I've done that for the best part of a decade during my commercial radio career, either as a broadcaster or as a news journalist/reader.
On its own the hours would be bad enough, without the havoc it played with my true passion, astronomy. Can you imagine having to force yourself to go to bed around 8-30pm during the week!!!
So I've thrown it in and accepted a position in media/marketing with Cricket ACT, the State governing organisation for cricket here in the Territory.
It's a very exciting time as the organisation looks to host more 1st class cricket matches and ultimately big international one-dayers and maybe a Test match in the future with the development of Manuka Oval.
There's a genuine feeling of optimism and enthusiasm which I'm really looking forward to being a part of.
What a way to start 2007.
Oh... and I get to stay up a little later on school nights
