Thanks David .... I must admit I often jump directly from my 30mm 80 degree ep down to the 13mm 68 degree for almost all of my viewing, so I'll make sure I try the 17mm instead on the usual nebulae and see how the field of view covers things - if I find that perspective pleasing and that it covers the area I want it to I'll go with the 1.25" filter as you suggested.
