OK!!!
I've remembered something which might explain it.
When I opened an IP 'fits' file of my LMC pic in Photoshop, I'm sure it looked like your pic. It was in greyscale so I closed it and reopened the file in IP to save as a TIFF. Opened in IP, it was back to its normal orientation.
The .fits file generated by IP as a default save file is orientated at 180 degrees with respect to the camera view - I just checked.
Got to be down to that eh? Thats if you are working with the default .fits file that is!!
