Janos, I still use film and will continue to do so till I can't buy it anymore.
I agree that film gives better image quality.
Depth of field is very noticable when you compere the same object taken with film at say F10 and a digital image ,the film image will look almost 3D, the digital looks flat even with very expensive CCD's.This will change once the larger size chips get cheaper, it would be nice to have a 35mm size chip that I could use at F10 then you would start to get a better depth of field with digital.
A camera with a chip that size would cost you a morgage on your house :-((
Film is harder to get processed, you have to find a competent processor who can do astro shots, these people are hard to find in this day of one hour photo's.
CCD has its place, I like my DSI it allows me to get some images from home that I otherwise would have to wait months to get using film, you wait a month for a dark weekend than the clouds come in :-))
