Thanks for posting this - it is really interesting. All the textboks say that comets come from deep space (the Oort cloud) and are composed of primordial material and studying them up close will tell us a lot about the early solar nebula from which the Sun and its retinue of planets formed.
It looks like that this is not the case, and that the material is all mixed up. Astrophysics will now have to come up with an explanatory mechanism for this.
