Trevor, how it works is that the TV station executives don't really get a lot of say about what rubbish shows they have to put on.

The US distributors sell 'Package Deals'. If a station, say, Channel 9, wants the latest TV release of a blockbuster movie, they have to take certain other shows in the deal! Often the execs hate the shows that we hate, but if they want the blockbuster for ratings, they have to take the garbage as well. (and it HAS to be shown).

Believe it or not, Dallas was a flop in the US and was sent over as one of those crappy add ons in a deal for a big movie. But Dallas took off over here and the station made multiple millions in advertising time during the airing of dallas!!!
