hey Thanks everyone.
I'm sure the High pass technique is better described elsewhere but here's what I basically did/do (remember I'm still just learning this stuff!)
presumably you've done the stacking and basic calibration etc to the point of having a picture you're pretty happy with (levels done/curves, saturation, etc)
duplicate your image
filter/other/high pass
set the high pass to about 60 pixels (adjust to taste)
select all, copy
go back to your original (preferably a duplicate so you never damage the original)
paste
open th elayers window
select soft light (or experiment with hard light)
slide the opacity (i select 30-100percent depending on the picture-experiment with it)
flatten the image/merge the layers
finalise unsharp mask etc as required and noise reduction process you usually use

voila
