My guess is that the black you see is the eyepiece section around the glass because the camera lens hasn't quite got flush with the section of the eyepice you see through. I've done it a few times myself when taking shots afocally, I'd show some examples but I deleted them all. I've got a Moonfish wide angle 10mm eyepiece which is great for afocal pics especially lunar pics when using a barlow because it can accomodate the camera lens with ease. Don't know if they sell them down under. Heres the site though. Moonfishgroup.com
