Don't know what was happening down there, but the clouds cleared in Newcastle at about 10:30 and we had one of those rare nights of really good seeing. The detail on Jupiter was simply amazing! The red spot was there (although it's more a 'cream spot' these days), there was all sorts of detail in the bands, particularly a strange smaller, lighter 'spot' in the other major band. Had a chance to try out the TV's and I was blown away by them both! I'll put a 'mini review' in the Equipment forum.
Just need to put a 'meteorological lock' on the current conditions for tonight!
