Was enquiring about prices of the Johnsonian EQ platforms, and got this bulk mailout:

Hello All,
I am pleased to announce that we are now taking orders for the Johnsonian Type V and Type VI Tracking Platforms.
The Type V is a full featured platform with 25 to 55 degrees latitude adjustment capability, dual axis (both RA & Dec) drive, autoguider port, hand controller, a 24"x24"x24" top, and 150 lb. carrying capacity - enough for a 16" telescope! Pre-production orders will be accepted at the previous price of $895.00 + shipping. We will need a 50% deposit, cash, credit card (Visa, Discover, or MasterCharge), or check to reserve yours. Delivery is expected in under 60 days. Once we have filled these orders and once again are able to maintain these in regular stocking, there will be a price increase.
The Type VI is Johnsonian's new budget platform for telescopes 10" aperture, 60 lbs. and smaller. This platform features RA tracking drive, a very wide range of latitude adjustability, and an introductory retail price of $399.00+shipping. This is the most cost effective way to add tracking capability to your 6', 8", or even 10" dobsonian telescope! Pre-production orders will be

We will be displaying both of these products at the Northeast Astronomy Forum in Suffren New York April 16 & 17.
These are great products and I know that yours will bring you much observing pleasure.
Does anyone have experience in these?

US$399 + shipping (for my 10") isn't cheap, but it's not a bad price, and would give me that much sought after tracking.

What are your thoughts?
