Very interesting approach. If this approach indicates anything at all it is that life must therefore be widespread through out the Universe. This would suggest that such pressure is building every where and as such must follow the same course to "seek" balance.
I like the idea and I like the fact they call it an idea not anything more as we can all join in speculation as to the possible merit.
Some will read in the hand of God some will see the odered structure of science explaining everything without the need of God.
As an Idea it would raise two camps one that life could originate following certain rules on a system without the need for outside help and an other where the process is not confined to a planet but works between wider systems.
When one thinks about this is it not the most interesting stuff.
