I have a 8" dob. if your back is bad or as you state arthritis is a problem then you will find it a tad difficult ot carry. but if you get it and a trolly to carry it around then you will really enjoy it. its great for, as rob stated, anythig from the moon to galaxies. and in the hunter your skies will be plenty dark to get great sights
