I helped a mate set up a link today using standard Netgear WAP's and old modified Austar antennas. The paricular link we set up is one of several working over roughly 3Km (line of sight). The mod is relatively simple and consists of removing some of the components in the antenna and trimming the dipole elements & attaching a coax. For anyone interested here is a
