I've always had an 8X25 monocular handy in the boot of my car.
8X is about as high as one should go for hand-holding a monocular, unlike with a binocular, things get a bit too shaky at 10X or higher which requires bracing a monocular against the top of a car or fence, or if sitting, the top of one's knee to get a steady image.
Unlike my one, yours will also be useful at night with its 5mm exit pupil.
Cheers,
Renato
