I have done it before with the same equipment on a SW goto mount though but I did notice the old focuser has a lot of sag at full extension. I can't remember, I've had the focuser off before, I think it unscrews from the tube itself (threaded end on telescope main tube). I have another Williams Optics focuser I could fit but not if it mounts the way I think it does, best I remove the original and find a way of minimising the slop.
Even just my 2" diagonal and D810 is a little too much weight for the old girl.
