NGC346 with quad filter

I just received an Optalong quad filter that I was keen to try. Last night was unexpectedly clear (relatively) and moon-free until midnight so I gave it a run on NGC346. The results were disappointing but interesting at the same time.

It was disappointing that the FWHM readings did not get below 5 - probably because of lingering high cloud and quite a bit of wind.

Interesting because of the amount of colour I was able to use. I captured on an ASI585 with a SharpStar 94EDPH and was able to get 45x300 seconds. I should have shortened the subs I think but even so, the amount of star colour in the result surprised me a lot.

I had to crop and compress the result a lot so the attached image is awful by just about any standard. But I attach it mainly to show the star colour.

Processed in APP and finished in StarTools with cropping in PS5.
