From an electronics standpoint Leon I would imagine fresh batteries and it's new (lovely camera by the way, I've had the pleasure of playing with one). Most electronics sitting packaged will last for an incredibly long time with the batteries being the only weak point. Though I'm not sure on mechanical components within but I'm sure they would be properly lubricated at manufacture (old Japanese grease and oil used to solidify many years back).
I guess they aren't making the 5D any more having moved to the later R series?
There could be upgrades to the firmware, I wouldn't know.


I had an original 5D here for a couple of years on long term loan by the same friend who owns the MK4, until I bought my used D810. It performed flawlessly though I did return it with a couple of new batteries I purchased for it.
Luckily Nikon lenses fit on Canon bodies, it doesn't work the other way and I have a collection of Nikon stuff.
