Been many moons ago since happened I not sure how now, but if memory serves I think it maybe an auto setting in camera, some older cameras I had,, had a flip image feature when the camera is/was tilted passed 45* degrees and I believe you can turn it off,, as you have these images in portrait style might be the cause ,,
I remember it gave the heebie-jeebies' when imaging with the scope and through the night half images were automatically flipped because tracking changing the angle..

Thats all I can offer sorry, and I might be wrong,
