Yes Monday night. I just watched the local magnetometer readings while watching TV. When it went high, I walk out of the deck and take a shaky hand held test shot. When I see red, I put the camera on the tripod and start a sequence.

Kp is more an indicator for northern hemisphere. When the magnetic field reading drops below -800, it’s worth a try. This one was about -1400nT. The Gannon event was perhaps -3000 to -4000nT.
