Apparently Sirius are back in business and have old (fire damaged stock) plus and creating new rails that should be stronger and less likely to have points snap off.

So I will look into this - replacement rails coming next week - have have sawn down the offcut and made 4 bridging pieces now - that is too many issues in just ten days to feel comfortable long term.

I have also purchased and new gear and nylon washer in case these need replacing in the motor housing - but that looks tricky to get to to say the least - five bolts that are in very hard to reach places unfortunately - inluess one can remove the entire motor casing box - and for my observatory that would be really hard to do - the fastening bolts are in a very hard to reach position...
