I'm hoping some retailers will be there, but you won't
need retailers there to try before you buy. The whole star party is a try-before-you-buy. I'd bet that almost every single person there will be happy for you to look through their scope - most people are very willing to share the views through their scope. It's a great opportunity to look through varying styles and types of scopes, as well as varying
sizes of scopes.
There'll be scopes there from 2.5inches of aperture, up to 25 inches of aperture!
Also, if you've never been under dark skies before, even just the naked eye view of a sky full of stars will blow you away.
During the day, there'll be guest speakers, workshopsm, as well as a lot of informal chatting about astronomy and telescope equipment.
