Smaller Exit Pupil Gave Me A Brighter Image

Hello there

Last night I was out at my dark spot Lost River Campground West Virginia. Bagged a few galaxies my favorite being M104 Sombrero. While observing M51 the Whirlpool galaxy I started with my Meade 56mm plossl, then the Olivon 22mm, and finally the 15mm Agena Starguider/Paradgm. The 15mm gave me a smaller exit pupil but caused the two cores to pop out. Just goes to show that by darkening the background can make an object being observed much brighter.
