Beautiful vintage red-tube Meade 6" F8 Newtonian on original motorized GEM. Made in California and imported to Australia new in 1982. One previous owner.

Meade model #628F 'Fiberlite' OTA, strong and lightweight.

Original GEM pier tripod with 240V/50-60Hz RA motor drive and southern hemisphere rotation (#653F). On my last outing, the mount tracked Jupiter perfectly in RA during a two hour session.

Automatic clutch mechanism enables use as a 'push-to' scope

Feet are threaded to take adjustable foot-pads or castors.

Original Meade 6x30mm right-angle finder (model #633), 9mm and 25mm MA Japan circle 'T' (Tani) eyepieces and original 1.25" focuser. (I have added a matching laser pointer to the accessories.)

Primary mirror has one 'ding', as shown. Mirrors may have been made by Parks. This scope is a planet killer. Views are stunning, sharp and with great contrast. Always kept indoors usually in a lounge where it can be admired.

I had brass secondary vane locating bolts custom-made to replace the old 'pot metal' ones.

This is simply a stunning telescope both to look at and to view through.
