20th Dec Large filament on Sun

20th Dec. There is a large filament on the Sun in the NE sector. I measured it at around 466,000 km in length. A filament is a prominence seen against the Sun's surface rather than on the limb. Two Ha images are presented - one showing the NE sector and the other the SW sector. Both are single exposures taken with a Canon 550d camera at Ha wavelength. Sky conditions were poor with a lot of wind.

Thanks for viewing. Merry Christmas and happy new year to all.
Cheers, John W.
