Absolutely agree,
I was always told by a very good friend of mine who owned a photography store and did professional wedding photograph to keep it simple and the results would be great.
I am sure, and actually know that this rule would apply to Astronomy too.
There is nothing like a good pair of binoculars to scan the night sky, and one can use them any time of the day as well.
