Whilst the rising damp is not an issue, the dust certainly is, Im going to do something about that. and I like your idea a lot "I had not considered dust ingress from the climate control
.. a damp seal between the pier and surrounding footings I can get away with the concrete pier is 3 feet high or there about wello below the floor and a good distance for damp not to travel to the pier assy. Im just going to styrofoam between the elements on pouring, and use petrol to disolve it...
