One of my favourites is more an entertainment/history book.

"Starlight Detectives: How Astronomers, Inventors, and Eccentrics Discovered the Modern Universe" by Alan Hirshfeld

This book is mainly directed towards the history & development of photography as a tool for astronomy & the exploration of the universe, covering from the early 19th century and the development of the first camera (daguerreatype) to Hubble's discoveries using photographic plates in the 20th. It discusses the developments not only in photography, but also the technological advancements of telescopes, mounting systems & other areas of science that were able to be expanded upon by the use of cameras for astronomy - spectroscopy for example.

An informing & entertaining narrative on the developmental stages of astrophotography and how it led to what is now called astrophysics.

Cheers,
Mark
