Sun images from Melbourne 16 August 2023

Tuesday was the first sunny morning for yet another week but unfortunately we had other commitments. Yesterday was also sunny but again we had commitments in the morning. Could our luck last and it still be cloud free by the afternoon? Yes! Still no clouds when we got home. Not the best time of day for imaging but what the heck, seize the moment. We are glad we did as it was a pretty impressive disk. Lots of good filaments and some great proms, particularly on the western limb.

The seeing was average and the jet stream was 61m/sec so we didn't push the aperture much. We took a full disk mosaic in Ha, a two panel mosaic of the main active regions in 393nm and a few Ha closeups using the 72ED.
